Jennie Swarz (also spelled "Schwartz" or "Swartz") Brummer (pronounced "Brumm-er") was born in Austria in 1871 (one document that I found shows her date of birth to be July 1870), the daughter of Herman and Maria Schwartz, of whom nothing is known. Her death certificate says that she came to the United States in 1898, and lived in New York for the last 27 years of her life. She married Hyman Brummer, whose name was Anglicized to Herman Brummer when he came to America, about 1890. Widowed in 1922, Jennie died of "chronic myocarditis," or chronic heart disease, about one month shy of her 55th birthday. Jennie's grave reads, in Hebrew, "Chana [Hannha], daughter of Chaim." She is buried next to her husband, Hyman Brummer, whose name is misspelled as "Brunner."

They were the parents of the following children who reached adulthood:

Edith Brummer Sapirman (1893-1956)
David "Dave" Brummer (?-?)
Ann Brummer Selkowitz (1894-1953)
Isidor "Bill" Brummer (1890-1974)
Millie Brummer Samuels (1905-1985)
Max Brumer (1909-1963)
Jacob "Jack" Brummer (1902-1980)
Gussie "Gertrude" Brummer Hertzberg (1913-1985)

Their fate of their son Isaac Brummer (1906-?) remains unknown as of this writing (2008).

Hyman and Jennie Brummer are my great-great-grandparents. May they both rest in peace.
