Mrs. Chadwick, of Stella Maris, Lumley Avenue, Skegness, died Jul 27, 1942, at her home. She was 68, the wife of Samuel Joseph Chadwick, and daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Whitworth, of Nottingham.

An east coast town was the victim of one of a series of tip and run raids on Monday morning. A Dornier 217 came in from the northeast dropping four or five bombs, machine-gunned Skegness, turned and made out to sea again. The bombs fell in a residential area demolishing some houses and severely damaging others. Twelve persons were officially posted as injured and five fatal casualties resulted, one being Mrs. Gertrude Chadwick.
