TINMOUTH POND- Nelson E. Parker Sr., 86, of Tinmouth Pond, died Saturday morning, February 8, 2014, at his residence following a brief illness, with family and friends at his side.He was born August 28, 1927, in Danby, VT, the son of Benjamin and Grace (Seamans) Parker.

Mr. Parker was raised in Danby, attended local schools and enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the Second World War, most notably aboard the USS Aldebaran AF-10. He met and was married to Ellen M. Minihan on November 11, 1946, while stationed with the Navy at Jacksonville, FL, and following his honorable discharge, he and his wife moved to Boston, MA.

In Boston, Mr. Parker received his GED, and attended and graduated from the Phillips Technical School in 1949. Following his graduation, he went to work for the Gillette Safety Razor Company for 10 years. Mr. Parker moved to Trumbull, CT, to take a position with the Schick Safety Razor Company of Milford, CT, until his retirement in 1986 as Superintendent of Production, following 28 years.

He and his wife purchased the Chipman Lake Pavilion in Tinmouth in 1966, starting the task of renovating and remodeling the property when visiting on vacations, holidays and the many summers they spent there, until moving there permanently in 1999.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Wallingford, and a former member of St. Theresa's Church in Trumbull, CT.

Mr. Parker enjoyed golfing, fishing and the time he spent with his family and was a gracious and genial host to all who visited Chipman Lake Pavilion.

Survivors include daughter, Mary G. Bucci of Austin, TX; son, Nelson E. Parker Jr. and his wife, Barbara of Westford; son, Lawrence J. Parker and his wife, Jeanne of Pittsburgh, PA; his devoted companion, Patricia Patch of Tinmouth Pond; granddaughters, Gina Bucci and Monica Nelson; grandsons, Tyler and Derek Parker; great-granddaughters, Brittni Bucci and Ashlee Nelson; and great-grandson, Blake Asmus; and by several nieces and nephews, as well as the extended Patch family.

He was predeceased by his wife, Ellen M. Parker on October 16, 2008, and all 15 of his siblings.

Calling hours will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 12, at the Wallingford-Aldous Funeral Home, 187 North Main Street, Wallingford, VT.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 13, at St. Patrick Church in Wallingford. Burial will be at a later date in the Danby-Scottsville Cemetery.

Arrangements are by the Wallingford-Aldous Funeral Home.
