Frank Hajek was born September 10, 1866 in Chicago, Illinois. In 1871 the family moved to Knox county, six miles south of Niobrara where his father homesteaded.

There he secured what education he could at that time. Later at an early age, he worked out.

In 1890, he took a homestead in Boyd county. On February 10, 1892, he married Marie Kulkavy. Two children were born to this union.

In 1899 he moved back to Knox county taking over his father's farm. He lived here until 1923, when with his wife, they moved from the farm to Niobrara.

Early in 1945, his health commenced to fail. In April of that year, he was taken to the Yankton hospital for medical observation. His health improved so that he enjoyed reading and visiting with his neighbors and friends.

In May of this year,he commenced to fail. On May 14, he was taken to the Lynch hospital, where he passed away July 14 at 5 a.m.

He was 79 years, 10 months and 4 days of age at the time of his death.

He is survived by his wife, Marie, daughter, Clara (William R. Fosterman) of Verdigre and a grandson, Alvin Fosterman.
Other survivors are two sisters, Anna Jacobs of Creighton and Mary Tichy of Niobrara.

One daughter, Amelia, and two brothers, John and Joseph, proceeded him in death.

Mr. Hajek was a charter member of the Western Bohemian Fraternal Association a Niobrara.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 Tuesday, July 16 at the CZBJ Hall in Niobrara with Rev. Lorin Wolff in charge. Joseph Broz of Verdigre spoke in the Czech language.

Interment was made at the ZCBJ cemetery north of Verdigre.
