Cynthea moved with her parents to Oskaloosa, IA as a young girl. She married William H.H. Hiatt on 26 Dec 1867 in Mahaska county, Iowa.
They stayed in Iowa for a few years before moving to Nebraska, settling in Dixon county on a farm. In the 1890's, they moved to a farm near Lynch, NE. In 1910, they had retired to Brown county, NE.
After William was sick and placed in the National Soldier's Home, Cynthea lived with her daughter, Neva Haun and family, back in Boyd county.
William and Cynthea had twelve children: S. Harland, Neva Haun, Jesse, Herman, Nathan Elliot, Newton Elijah, Annis Hull, Benjamin, Jannie or (Christena Bechtold?), Fred and Lillie Spencer, and one that passed away before 1900.
