The following information was provided by Robert Dumont, a grand nephew of Harley.

My great uncle Harley Bailey--Uncle Cotton--makes me smile. He was a "character" and a raconteur of the highest order. He possessed a gift for oral narrative and could spin a story about somebody or some event from decades previous that included exact dialogue and the smallest details which lent an air of total verisimilitude to the tale. No need to turn on the TV or read a book for entertainment when Uncle Harley was around. He and Park Davis and Noble Bailey all played for the local semi-pro baseball teams in their younger days and were quite accomplished. Harley had a tryout for the Chicago White Sox and Park was invited to try out for the St. Louis Cardinals. My grandfather Park was also quite a funny fellow and possessed of a great sense of humor. More of a wise-cracker as opposed to Harley's humorous tale telling.
