US Congressman. Born in Exeter, near Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, he attended the Susquehanna County Academy at Montrose, where he was admitted to the bar in 1833 and commenced law practice. The following year he was appointed County Treasurer. Dimock was elected as a Democrat to represent Pennsylvania's 17th District in the Twenty-Seventh Congress, and served from March 1841 until his death in office at the age of 40. His remains were brought back to Montrose for burial. There is also a cenotaph for him at the Congressional Cemetery in Washington, DC.
