Deceased Name: VIRGINIA (VIRGY) HALVORSON
Virginia (Virgy) Halvorson, 73, passed away Monday, March 1st in the Northwood Deaconess Health Center.
Virginia Lucille was born March 6th, l930 to Kermit and Helen Bakke. She was raised in the rural Northwood area, graduated from Northwood High School and received her teaching certificate from Mayville College.
Virgy married Robert W. Halvorson on Dec. 23, l947 at Crookston, Mn. They farmed by Northwood and later Virgy was employed by Huard Insurance Co. and the Northwood Deaconess Heath Center until her retirement. Robert passed away in l989. She was a member of the NELC and American Legion Auxillary. She became a resident at the Deaconess Health Center in August of this year.
Virgy was a wonderful wife, a loving mother and a very special Grandma.. She loved all her family, and had a very special place in her heart for all her grandchildren. Grandma Dietz was loved by all and will be greatly missed. God bless our precious memories of her.
She is survived by 4 children; Cheryl (David) Korsmo, Northwood, Robert D. (Cheryl) Halvorson, Fargo, Jackie (Dan) Korsmo, Northwood, and Lisa (Bruce) Nelson of Portland, ND, ll Grandchildren, Michelle (Guy) Gullekson, Stephanie (Pete) Theobald, Stacie Korsmo, Jason Korsmo, Derek (Stephanie) Halvorson, Jonathan Halvorson, Kirk Halvorson, Nathan (Nicole) Korsmo, Jennifer Korsmo, Micheal Nelson, Matthew Nelson, and 12 Great Grandchildren, Katie, Brady & Gavin Gullekson, Riley, Brendan, Joseph Theobald, Caleb & Colin Korsmo, Destinee Korsmo, Austin & Trinity Korsmo and Gretta Halvorson, 2 brothers, Jake (Arlene) Bakke, Fargo, Kermit (Barbara) Bakke, Northwood, Aunt Christine Haug, Grand Forks, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by an infant brother, her parents, and husband Robert.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 4th at 10:00 A.M. in the Evangelical Lutheran Church at Northwood with Pastor Victor Saude officiating. The organist was Barbara Maristuen and music by " Joyful Praise." The casketbearers were Jason Korsmo, Nathan Korsmo, Matt Nelson, Micheal Nelson, Derek Halvorson, Jonathan Halvorson, Kirk Halvorson, Guy Gullekson, Peter Theobald and Delk Kamphaug. The interment will be held in the Northwood City Cemetery.
