Margaret Cecilia was the granddaughter of former Mayor of Houston, John T. Browne, who served two terms in office from 1892 to 1896, and wife Mary Jane Bergin.

Margarets's parents, Michael Cusack Lyons and Mary Elizabeth Browne, owned Lyons Grocery Store. Margaret was born as the 3rd daughter to her parents, of 11 children.

In 1924 at the age of 18, She married Edward Dowling Collerain, nephew of Dick Dowling. Their marriage was of only two years when she died in her first pregnancy, with their first child.

Her death certificate indicates she was buried at Holy Cross Jan 3, 1927. She was later transferred, along with her baby and father, from Holy Cross to join the rest of the family at Garden of Gethsemane section of Forest Park Cemetery in Houston.
