Mother, Babe Dead Following Operation

Mrs. Della Maynard, 32, wife of Roy Maynard, farmer of the Tom Beall region, and her new-born son died at White's hospital yesterday afternoon after a Caesarian operation performed during the morning.

The child lived for several hours after members of the Lewiston fired department vainly used the resuscitator twice in an effort to save the child, the first time at 10:07 a.m., with a second call answered at 1:20 p.m.

Mrs. Maynard, a native of Canada, was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Chapman, and most of her life was spent in this community. She resided at Culdesac 12 years before locating on Tom Beall creek.

Survivors are her husband; three children, Darlene, 10; Shirley, 8; Duane, 4; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Chapman, Clarkston, and seven sisters, Mrs. Harold Roberts, Kendrick; Mrs. Everett Morrow, Cloverland; Mrs. Porter Hogaboam, Culdesac; Mrs. Kenneth Schubert and Mrs. Dell Stuart, both of Seattle; Miss Carol Chapman, Clarkeston, and Mrs. Charles Richmond, Pomeroy, her twin sister.

The bodies are at the Brower-Wann chapel with funeral arrangements pending.
