Mr. Cephas Asbury, 92, of Kellys Creek, went home to be with the Lord, March 7, 2014, at home.

He is retired from Union Carbide and a member of Kellys Creek Independent Church. Cephas is an Army Veteran serving during WWII and is a recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Lois June Asbury and son, Buster Asbury.

He is survived by his daughter, Dreama and husband, Harvey Berna of Kellys Creek; daughter-in-law, Sue Kiser of Kellys Creek; brother, Harley Asbury of Kellys Creek; four grandchildren, Stuart and wife, Georgette Asbury, Cody and wife, Phyllis Slater, Lee and wife, Cindy Slater and Tressie Kiser; and five great-grandchildren, Kaysie, Brandon, Dillon, Kaylee and Chelsey.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Hospice Care, especially Joan and Renee, for all the care given to Cephas.

A tribute to the life of Cephas Asbury will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 11 at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lawrence Slater and the Rev. Donnie Kiser officiating. Burial will follow in Clark Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home.
