U.S. Congressman. He was a member of the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives, (1812-15, 1817). In 1821, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventeenth Congress, reelected as a Jackson Republican to the Eighteenth Congress and Nineteenth Congress, serving until 1827. He declined to be a candidate for re-nomination and engaged in agricultural pursuits, unril his death at age 80.
