Mary was wed to coal train laborer Michael Lynch of Watkins [Glen], Schuyler Co., N.Y., on April 5, 1875, at St. Mary's Church, Auburn. The week prior to their marriage, Mike and Mary had purchased a residential/commercial building in Watkins and soon established M. Lynch's saloon, but the business was not successful and they conveyed the property to Mary's mother—who in turn sold it in November 1880. Michael had died in January 1880 while visiting his sister Mrs. Mary Gurnett at Dundee, N.Y.
The Lynches had two known children:
• Maurice* Jeremiah Lynch, named for both grandfathers, was baptized on January 9, 1876, at St. Mary's of the Lake Church, Watkins. *Pronounced "Morris," he died in infancy and was not enumerated in the 1880 census.
• Ellen Mary Lynch, born October 5, 1877, and baptized at St. Mary's Church, Auburn. Known as Helen but favoring "Nellie," she married Frederick James Parker at Holy Family Church, Auburn, on May 2, 1900. They had one son and three daughters. Nellie died in 1960.
By the 1880 census, Mary and Nellie were residing with Mary's parents in Auburn; her father Jerry died three years later. On the afternoon of October 26, 1888, Mary suffered a stroke at her mother's Cornell St. residence, and died within an hour. She was 34 (her death certificate and casket plaque mistakenly identify her age as 31), and interment was made in the Irish Catholic cemetery on State Street in Auburn.
