Mrs. Gray was born December 2, 1926, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, the daughter of the late George Dewey and Daisy Hogan Nelson.
She was reared and received her education in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School. She had been a lifelong resident of Pine Bluff until moving to Proctor in 2000, and had worked at the Drape Shop for four years, retiring in 1976. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church where she was a member of the Ukulele Band and Outreach leader. She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, AARP, NBC Horizon Club. The Pine Bluff National Bank Crown Club, Red Cross Volunteer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis O. Gray in 1984.
Survivors include two daughters, Diane Britton of Proctor and Sandra Ann Hamby of Dardanelle, brother, Leonard Nelson of Louisville, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Jim Hurst of Huntsville, Alabama, Rhonda Mattice of California and Bryan Hamby of Dardanelle and six great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at 11:00 AM in Cypress Memorial Gardens Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with Reverend BJ Johnson officiating.
The family will receive friends at Robinson's Tuesday morning from 9 AM to 10:30 AM.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Alzheimer's Arkansas Association, Central ADRDA, 201 Markham Center Drive, Little Rock, Arkansas 72205.
