Mary Frances Travis Barrett, affectionately called "GG" and "Gramma," passed into eternity Friday, March 14, 2014. She is now absent from the body and is face to face with the Lord Jesus Christ. Frances was born Feb. 17, 1927, in Brandon to Chalmus Travis and Hettie West. She was the beloved wife of Douglas Wayne Barrett. Upon his death, she became the cornerstone of the family devoting her life to them. A gentle, kind and caring woman, she endeared all who knew her. With a sense of adventure she returned to work after raising her children. In 1979, she found great joy being employed at a cosmetics lab, soon rising to supervisor and retiring in 1985. Frances took great pride in her Texas heritage, enjoying Texas wildflowers, the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys, memories of her youth picking cotton and songs of Texas. She was a true patriot and the sight of the American flag flying could bring tears to her eyes. Survivors: Left to honor and cherish her memory are her children, Donna (Don), Pat, Vicky, and David (Sherry); grandchildren, Heather (Justin), Heidi (Scott), Ben (Jenifer), Bianca, Colby, Stephanie (James), Travis, Nathan, and Rachael (Scott); great-grandchildren, Sarah, Kobie, Jaycee, Abigail, Tyler, Kolton, Mason, and Zachary and Lieth; brothers, Melvin Travis, Larry Travis; sister, Jean Badgett; several nieces, nephews and extended family; and her special friend and caregiver, Sherry Hogue.
