Reuben Awe, 91, of Sheboygan passed away late Sunday evening March 16, 2014 at Sunny Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Reuben was born January 5, 1923 in Newton, WI to the late William and Hulda (Rambadt) Awe.

Reuben married the former Margaret Gruenke July 6, 1946 at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church; she preceded him in death on September 9, 1981. When Reuben was a young man he worked at the Wunsch Farms in Cleveland. He was then employed by Honold-LaPage and retired from the Village of Kohler. Reuben was a member of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, St. Peter Claver Aid Society and the Waldo Senior Citizen group. He enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, dancing, playing cards, gardening and traveling the U.S. with his sister-in-law and brother-in-law.

Reuben loved spending time with his family especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Survivors include his children Allen (Penny) Awe of Sheboygan, Ronald (Joan) Awe of Hartford, Jean (Tom) Schmied of Green Bay; eight grandchildren Cynthia Clifford-Augsburger (Steven), Jon (Sarah) Awe, Stephanie Awe, Elizabeth (Mike) Russell, Melissa (Chris) Foti, Kyle, Cody and Dylan Schmied; 13 great grandchildren; special friend Lorraine Schmitt (deceased) and her family Darlene Dahm, Don (Darlene) Schmitt and their family.

Reuben was preceded in death by his parents; wife Margaret; son Joseph; daughter Mary; brother Edmund (Betty) Awe; sisters Ruth (Clayton) Irick and Alice (Ed) Leonowicz.

Burial will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
