Beatrice Hicks (nee Black), 91, a long time Jersey City resident made her heavenly transition to join her loved ones for that great reunion on January 28, 2009, at the Jersey City Medical Center.

Beatrice was a Seamstress for Protec, Inc., in Jersey City, for many, many years. She was a proud, devoted, faithful member of the Central Baptist Church in Jersey City for well over 60 years. She was member of the Gospel Chorus, Senior Choir, and later had the distinction of Church Mother.

Beatrice loved her church family, whatever ministry or event that was taking place, she made sure that she was a part of it; everybody's birthday, the fashion shows with the late Clara Stokes.

Singing praises unto the Lord was one of her ministries, as a member of the Versatile Singers for many years she preached the word of God in song to all that desired.

Beloved wife of the late Ernest Hicks. Devoted mother of Laverne Hicks Hobbs, stepson Irving Myers, and the late Ernest B. Hicks. Precious grandmother of Valerie Hobbs, and Kimberly Gordon. Adored great-grandmother of Jason Hobbs, Marcus Hobbs, Simone Hobbs, and the late Anthony Hobbs. Caring sister of Catherine Jackson, and a host of nephews, nieces, other loving relatives, church family and friends.
