Andrew Dean "Andy" Caperton, 53, died March 24, 2014 with several members of his family by his side.

The family will receive visitors at 1:00pm, Friday, March 28 at Birchman Baptist Church. A memorial service will follow at 2:00pm. A memorial service will also be held in Arkansas at 11:00am, April 3, at First Baptist Church of Greenwood. Andy's remains will later be taken to the Arkansas Mountains that he loved so much.

Andy is survived by his wife, Marisol; his mother, Margie Lee Caperton; brothers, Steve (Kathy) Caperton and Ben Caperton; sister, Kathy (Terry) Meadows; 4 nieces and 2 nephews, all of Fort Smith, Arkansas; and 9 foster children in Fort Worth.

Andy was raised in Greenwood, Arkansas, where he developed his love for backpacking and nature. He joined the Boy Scouts of America and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Andy attended Westark Community College on a music scholarship. He worked for Cloth World (later JoAnn's) stores in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas, where God called him to the mission field.

On a mission trip to Chile with Birchman Baptist Church, Andy knew he had found the people he would serve. He spent two years as a journeyman, then became a career missionary in 1999, serving in Chile, Peru, and Bolivia. He spent days backpacking into the mountains to reach villages that had never heard the story of Jesus. After developing relationships with the people, he would begin to tell them about the God of Creation and His Son, Jesus. His greatest delight was seeing men, women, and children place their faith in Christ.

It was in Chile, while serving as a missionary to the Mapuche Indians, that Andy met the love of his life, Marisol. He returned to Fort Worth in 2008 where he and Marisol married and made their home. He was employed by Southwest Ford as an Automobile Procurement Specialist. He and Marisol experienced the joy of parenthood through foster parenting. His favorite pastime was sitting and holding ‘his babies.'

Andy will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He will be remembered for his greeting, ‘Hello, Hello!', the endless puns and jokes, his uncanny ability to get in – and out of - a tight place in one piece, and the wonderful talent of telling stories – whether his own or others. Everything he did was anchored in his extreme faith and trust in the God he loved and served.

Memorial gifts in Andy's memory may be made to the Birchman Missions Fund, 9100 N. Normandale, Fort Worth, TX 76116.
