Rebecca E. Newman was born in Indiana, March 12, 1845 and moved to Iowa with her parents in early childhood.

In 1865 she was married to John W. Luddington, a soldier in the Civil War.

Fifty-three years ago Mr. and Mrs. Luddington moved to Nebraska, settling on a farm up the Loup River not far from where Palmer is now. These two pioneers
remained on the farm until 1904, when they moved into Fullerton. Mr. Luddington died in 1911.

Mrs. Luddington was converted and joined the Methodist Church in Iowa in her early girlhood. She joined the Fullerton Church Dec. 12, 1902, transferring her
membership from the church up the river, nearer the farm.

Mrs. Luddington's father was a Methodist minister.

Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Luddington. Three departed this life a few years before the mother did, John Luddington, of Williamsburg, Va, in 1915, Mrs. Elizabeth Russel, of California, in 1920 and Mrs. Luella Pritchett, of Greybull, Wyo. in 1921. The three who survive and who lived near enough to see their mother often, and rendered such helpful assistnce and comfort through this good woman's illness, the greater part of the last year, are Mrs. Kate Russell of Fullerton, Mrs. Mattie E. Gorby of Palmer, and Mrs. Mae Dopf, of Belgrade, all of whom were with her when she passed away Tuesday morning, Sept. 13, 1927.

Mrs. Luddington had been quite ill for the past eight months, but during the last month had felt considerably better and stronger. A week or more ago, she was able to go to her daughter's home in Palmer. On Saturday, Sept. 10, she was taken much worse, and grew weaker until the end came.

Mrs. Luddington was a devoted and faithful member of the W. R. C. and the W. C. T. U. She was always dependable when her health permitted, in Church, Sunday school and Ladies Aid activities. She loved with a sacrificial affection the kingdom of her Lord and her Christ.

This saintly woman was known by all to be a Christ-like Christian, being 82 years, 6 months and 1 day old at the time of her translation.

The funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 15, a brief service at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gorby in Palmer, conducted by Rev. E. H. Tipton, pastor of the Methodist Church in Palmer, and at 10:30 A.M. at her own church in
Fullerton, her pastor M. B. Carmen, officiating, and the Church Singers rendering the music. Interment was by the side of her husband in the Fullerton Cemetery.
