Zalmon Ludington, Jr., was married to Lovila Lovina Hagan in about 1822, she of Preston County, Virginia. Lovina was born 10 Sept 1803 and died 19 June 1842.

"Mr. Ludington had served in Col. Churchill's regiment of
New York state in the war of 1812, and participated in the battle
of Black Rock. He was a contractor in the construction of the
Baltimore and Ohio railroad near Old Town, Md., in 1839 ; and
in 1840, he constructed and operated a tannery in Wharton town-
ship. In 1847, he opened a shoe and leather store on the corner
of Main and Morgantown streets, and after purchasing the
Walker hotel property he continued in business here for many
years. He died at the home of his son. General Marshall L Lud-

In about the year 1855, Zalmon was married for a second time to Susan Welsh Rankin, the widow of Thomas Rankin. Based on the DC of a son of Susan and Thomas Rankin, Hugh Lawson Rankin, her maiden name was Welch. Hugh L. Rankin is also buried in Oak Grove.
Susan Rankin Ludington is listed with Zalmon in the 1870 and 1880 Census', in Uniontown. Susan died in 1886 and was buried in Oak Grove. When Zalmon died in 1889 in Philadelphia, living there with a son, his body was returned to Uniontown for burial.
