Vincenza (Pica) Brienza was born in Italy in January of 1851, and arrived in the United States on December 5th, 1885 on board the SS India, with her husband Michele Brienza, and their children. She was the Mother my Great-Grandfather Pasquale "Charlie" Brienza and Grandmother of Jennie Brienza Grillo (my Grandmother). Vincenza (Pica) Brienza was shot and killed on Saturday, Sept. 11th, 1915. As Vincenza was dining with her husband Michele at their home at 31 Newin St., Corona, Long Island, New York, a bullet struck her in the back and entered between two of the lower ribs on her left side causing her to topple from her chair. Vincenza was either shot by a man with a revolver that the Police had under surveillance, or a careless boy with a rifle.
