Comanche - GID HAMPTON, 85, of Comanche, died Saturday, December 17, 2005, in Duncan.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Chisholm Trail Church of Christ with Leonard Keele officiating. Burial will be in the Alley Family Cemetery, Prichard, W.Va. Arrangements are under direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home.
Gid was born Feb. 26, 1920, in Fort Gay, W.Va., to Charley and Lila Rakes Hampton. He was a retired dry-goods salesman. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in the European Theater.
He was a member of Chisholm Trail Church of Christ. He married Garnet Alley in 1952 and she preceded him in death in 1994.
Survivors include five daughters, Diane Harris and husband Jerry of Huntsville, Texas, Carolyn Slater and husband Dave of Grand Prairie, Texas, Jane Simeral of Coronado, Calif., Patricia Barber of Comanche, and Ginny Heath and husband Stan of Duncan; a son, Jack Hampton and wife Linda of Prichard, W.Va.; two brothers, Ray Hampton and Howard Hampton; a sister, Anna Jean Hampton; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and a sister.
