William Birkholz, 63, Reedsville business man and former village official, died suddenly of a heart attack Sunday night at his home.
He had been enjoying good health and Saturday attending the wedding of his son, Howard, at Clarks Mills.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. from the Birkolz home and at 2 o'clock from the St. John-James Evaangelical (sic) Lutheran church at Reedsville. Burial will be in the west side cemetery.
Mr. Birkolz was born in the town of Maple Grove in 1879 and 40 years ago moved to Reedsville, where for many years he has been a painting contractor. In 1908 he married Miss Christina Steinfest.
For a 30-year period he was an active member of the Reedsville Fire Department. He served 17 years as assessor of the village and was a member of the Reedsville city band for many years.
Survivors are the widow; four daughters, Mrs. Sarto Fleming, of Milwaukee, Mrs. Stanley Gibbons of Wauwatosa, Mrs. Milton Rusch of Manitowoc, Evelyn, of Reedsville; three sons, Daniel of Maribel, PFC Howard, stationed at Savannah, Ga., Vernon of Butler, Wis.; three
brothers, Albert and Leonard of Manitowoc, August, of Baraboo; three sisters, Mrs. Gust Procknow of Reedsville, Mrs. Thomas Danning of Wauwatosa, Mrs. Herman Wille, of Milwaukee; and seven grandchildren.
The body will be moved to the Birkholz home Tuesday afternoon from the Shimon funeral home.
