Joseph Dupuis Killed In Action
Two Rivers Man Is War Victim

Word of the death in action in the North African area on July 14 of Private First Class Joseph L. Dupuis, 34, was received by his mother in Two Rivers this afternoon.

PFC Dupuis, apparently a member of the forces invading Sicily, is the tenth Two Rivers man to lose his life in this war and the 32nd county victim of the fighting thus far. He was the son of Mrs. Katherine Dupuis of 1519 Jefferson street, Two Rivers.

The Two Rivers soldier was inducted into the Army on April 20, 1941 and in November of that year was released after passage of the law on 28-year-olds. He was called back to service in March 1942 and was last home on a visit in October last year.

In a letter written home early in July he stated that it looked as though the forces he was with were going to invade the homeland of Joseph Sidoty, a well known Two Rivers resident of Italian descent. He expressed the hope of writing again within ten days "if nothing happens."

Survivors are the mother; five sisters, Mrs. Bernard Simono of Two Rivers, Mrs. Robert Lee of this city and the Misses Jeanette, Carol and Joan at home; and one brother, Mark Alton Dupuis of Sturgeon Bay.
