HEZEKIAH CUMMINGS is a direct descendant of Deacon Isaac Cummings who arrived in Topsfield/Ipswich Massachusetts in the early 1630's from Mistley, Essex, England. Hezekiah Cummings is my 3rd great uncle.

He was engaged as the leading council member during the 1860-1870's term in Akron, NY. During that time Hezekiah and family expanded their business and continued to work the cement operations business world-wide.

------------------------------

About the year 1832 "Squire" Huntley built a dam across Murder Creek and erected a carding and fulling mill. HEZEKIAH CUMMINGS purchased the business a little later and a large custom was secured for many years. In 1850 Harlow Cummings occupied the mill building as a hub factory.

HEZEKIAH CUMMINGS is listed as the Town of Newstead Supervisor 1839-1849. He was the founder of the world-wide Cummings Cement Works headquartered near Akron, New York.

SARAH "SALLY" POND CUMMINGS, 1st wife of Hezekiah, and according to Maureen Anderson, Valley Steam, NY and a descendant, stated that Sally's (circa June 1825/26) wedding dress was donated to the Smithsonian Institute in the 1960's by her grandmother.

The Governor of New York, Dewitt Clinton, a long-time supporter of the Erie Canal, attended Sally and Hezekiah's wedding.
