Ephraim Hawley, son of Samuel Hawley, Sr., a farmer and tanner of Stratford, Connecticut, and Patience (Nichols), was born in Stratford 7 Aug., 1692, died 1771. He married Phebe Curtis, in Stratford on 5 Oct. 1711. He was a selectman, 1728, and became a large landholder in the township of New Milford. He removed to Arlington, Vermont. His daughter, Patience Hawley, married Consider Hurlbut in 1742.
