Son of William and Anne Gaffney. He was the valedictorian of his graduating class at Vincentian Institute in Albany and was a Summa cum laude graduate of both Yale University (which he completed in three years with a double major), and The Julliard School of Music. He loved the film "The Importance of being Ernest" (particularly Dame Edith Evan's portayal of Lady Bracknell) based on the story by Oscar Wilde and could often be heard baying, "Prism! Where is that baaaaby?". Fluent in several languages (he had doctors so convinced he was French they brought in a translator to interpret for them) and a brilliant musician, he was pursuing two Ph.D.s at the University of Austin, TX at the time of his illness.
My best friend.
