OBITUARY
Mrs. Amanda Chatfield Eckley was born in Scioto county, Ohio, April 22, 1850 and passed from this life to the great beyond Sept. 10, 1927 at age 77 years,4 mo., and 20 days. She was a member of a family of nine children, being left motherless at the age of 3 years. Only one survives, Mrs. Nellie Campbell, resident of this neighborhood. She was arried Jan. 23, 1867 to John Eckley, who preceded her in death on June 9, 1902. To this union several children were born: Mrs. Emma Bevington; Mary dieing at the age of 7 years; Mrs. Nellie House; George of Bunker Hill; Fred died Dec. 18, 1914 age of 30 years; Willard of Miami; and Mrs. Alice Shope. She united with the church at an early age and in her life as a Christian, has been one of deepest devotion, running all through her life as a golden thread. Accompanied by a marked patience throughout her long illness and in all her life. She will be greatly missed, but especially in the homes of her children where there will be the vacant chair. Left to mourn the loss besides the children are, 18 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Sleep on beloved sleep and take thy rest. Lay down thy head upon thy Saviors breast. We love thee well, but Jesus loves thee best good night. Only good night beloved, not farewell a little while and all his Saints shall dwell in hallowed union indivisible-good night. Until we meet again before his throne, clothed in the spotless robe he gives his own until we know even as we are known-good night!
