Sophie H. Abel, 86, of Rockford, died at 12:35 p.m. Monday, May 6, 1994, in Holt Health Care Center after a lengthy illness. Born May 4, 1908, in Minnesota, the daughter of Adam and Kate Yanahsky Graczyk. Lived eight years in Rockford, coming here from Milwaukee, Wis. Married Richard C. Abel in Milwaukee. She was a homemaker. Survivors include her son, James Abel of California; two daughters, Janet Anker of Rockford, and Donna (James) Middleton of Elk Grove Village; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Frank Graczyk and sister, Agnes Mueller, both of Milwaukee. Predeceased by parents, husband and nine brothers and sisters.
Services were Thursday, June 9, in Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, with the Rev. Glenn Graczyk officiating. Burial at 2 p.m. Friday, June 10, in Skyline Memorial Park. Memorials to Family.
