She was a daughter of Samuel "Mike" Nardone of Pittston and the late Mary Kurilla Nardone. She had 3 children Stephanie Nestor, Mary Bogdanovicz and Matthew Nardone. JoAnn was a 1973 graduate of Pittston Area High School, she completed her undergraduate studies, received a master's degree in psychology and also had a master's degree in history from the University of Scranton.
She was also a published researcher, loved being involved in historical reenactments and loved her dog, Lucas, and cats, Phoebe and Junior. JoAnn was a member of the Church of St. Catherine of Sienna, Moscow, and was a self-employed historian.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel M. Nardone Jr.
