Neumeyer, Alphonse (Bubbly)

Alphonse (Bubbly) Neumeyer, age 79, a former Clarks Mills resident, died Wednesday morning, March 5, 2014 at Shawano Medical Center, Shawano.

He was born on January 18, 1935 in Collins, Manitowoc County, son of the late Edward and Alvina (Stahl) Neumeyer. Al was a graduate of Valders High School, Class of 1953. He was a Veteran of the Korean War serving in Europe, Germany and France. On August 18, 1954 he married the former Mary Brunmeier at St. Wendel Catholic Church, Cleveland. She preceded him in death on June 13, 2000. He later married the former Bonita Berton on September 27, 2003 at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Cecil. Al began his career as a foreman with Gabes Construction and Michael's Construction. He was then employed with the Kohler Company for many years until his retirement. Al was a member of the Knights of Columbus and American Legion of Shawano. He was also an active member of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Cecil where he was an usher. In his youth, he enjoyed catching turtles on the Manitowoc River and making turtle soup. Al enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially on Shawano Lake and spending time at his second home on Pickerel Lake. Al enjoyed dancing and playing cribbage, but his true devotion was spending time with his family and many friends.

Survivors include his wife: Bonnie Neumeyer, Shawano; six children: Mary Petit, Madison, Charlene (John) Haug, Manitowoc, Linda Neumeyer and her fiancé: Roy Werner, Reedsville, Lisa (Tony) Halada, Denmark, Stephen Neumeyer and his special friend: Terresa Heubner, Shawano, Patrick (Margie) Neumeyer, Appleton; 7 grandchildren: David, Jennifer, Marissa, Keith, Jacob, Samantha and Joshua; six step children: Theresa (Stephen) Cassebury, David (Sheryl) Berton,, Douglas (Kay) Berton, Karen (Tim) Brabender, Steven (Barbara) Berton, Julie (Rob) LeMay; 17 step grandchildren; and 11 step great grandchildren. He is further survived by two brothers and a sister-in-law: Jerome Neumeyer, Manitowoc, Norbert & Elaine Neumeyer, DePere; two sisters and a brother-in-law: Dolores Knox, Manitowoc, Bernadine & Wayne Breckheimer, Elkhart Lake; two brothers-in-law: John Brunmeier, Green Bay, Al Fenlon, Valders; four sisters-in-law: Rosemary Brunmeier, Manitowoc, Ann (William) Neumeyer, DePere, Agnes (Edward) Neumeyer, St. Nazianz, Marilyn (Robert) Neumeyer, Manitowoc. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by four brothers: Clarence, William, Edward Jr. and Robert Neumeyer, a sister: Rose Fenlon; two sisters-in-law: Virginia (Clarence) Neumeyer, Virginia (Jerome) Neumeyer; four brothers-in-law: Richard Knox, George Brunmeier, Robert Brunmeier and Charles Brunmeier; a son-in-law: Christopher Petit and a grandson: Ryan Rusch.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014 at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo - 1121 North 14th Street, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. David Beaudry with entombment at Knollwood Mausoleum, town of Kossuth. Immediately following the Mass of Christian Burial, Military Rites will be accorded by V.F.W. Otto Oas Post #659.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, Manitowoc, from 8:30 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014 until 10:15 a.m.

Al was a loving husband, dad and grandpa who will be greatly missed by his family. Always loved and never forgotten.
