There is some question about Joseph's year of birth. Although the grave marker clearly states 1860, the 1900 US Census states October 1858. A letter that Joseph wrote in June, 1901 states that his age was 43, but he also wrote that ages in the letter were approximate. Family tradition give his year of birth as 1856.

Joseph was a Blacksmith. He and his family lived at 12 John Street in Akron, NY.

Children:
Frank (1886-1911)
Josephine (B: 2/28/1888; M: Robert "Kent" Logan; R: Kankakee, IL)
Mary (1889-1890)
Edward (1891-1945)
Catherine (B: 2/17/1893; M: Irving Chappius, Lockport, NY)
Mary (B: 8/24/1896; Nurse at Buffalo, NY)
Paul (B: 2/13/1899; M: Myrtle E. Andrus, Port Chester, NY)
Agnes (B: 3/20/1901; Sister in Mt. St. Joseph, Buffalo, NY)
Elizabeth (B: 8/19/1904; M: Edward Woods, Buffalo, NY)
John (B: 2/6/1907; M: Ruth Finch, Akron, OH)

PERMANENTLY LOCATED

JOSEPH ANSEL has purchased the STODDARD place on John Street, across from his present location, which he will fit up as a first class BLACKSMITHING and HORSESHOEING SHOP. He has moved for the last time, and is now located to stay. He will continue as heretofore to do first class work at the lowest possible rates. Give him a call at the New Stand.
