As a young man Frank continued to live with his mother and step-father, giving his occupation as "farmer" in the 1892 New York State Census.
Frank was admitted to Willard State Hospital on August 24, 1896 as an "alleged incompetent person" after setting his mother's barn and house on fire. He remained at Willard until his death nearly 22 years later. He was buried on August 15, 1918.
