ROBERT "BOB" LAWSON passed away on Dec. 23, 2005. He was born Dec. 7, 1917 in Yukon, Oklahoma. He was the second son of Roy and Matilda (Ruzicka) Lawson.
Bob and Alice Bednar were united in marriage on April 20, 1940.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Bednar Lawson, in September 2004; his brother, Vincent; and sisters, Marie Dixon and Catherine Wynne.
Ten nieces and nephews and their families, plus many friends, survive him.
Bob served America during World War II as part of the 5th Army and was actively involved in campaigns stretching from North Africa through Italy, France and finally into Belgium. His life was especially impacted by the hard-fought landing and beachhead at Anzio, Italy during Jan. 1944. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his service during that campaign.
Bob was a member of both the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars for more than 50 years.
Bob was an active part of the postwar housing boom in the northwest Oklahoma City area, having been involved in family construction businesses and then many years with Dale Terrell Homes, Inc., until his retirement.
Services will be held graveside at Chapel Hill, Fri., Dec. 30, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. (Mercer-Adams)
