Son of Louis and Caroline Wagner Misegadis

Born and raised in Rush County, Kansas Dean answered America's call to arms during WW II. He served in the navy in the Pacific fleet aboard the USS Alabama (BB 60) and USS Dayton (CL 105)
After the war he returned home where he married and raised a family.

Mr. Misegadis was born March 11, 1926, in rural Rush Center, Kansas, the son of Louis and Caroline (Wagner) Misegadis. A resident of Rush Center, Kansas, since 1946, he was the owner of Dean's TV & Appliance, Rush Center, and La Crosse, Kansas. He also was a farmer. A 1944 graduate of Dodge City High School, Dodge City, Kansas, he attended Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa.

He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church; former council member of Hope Lutheran Church; former president of the Lions Club; former president and charter member of Walnut Valley Senior Center; and member of the Walnut Valley Saddle Club, all of Rush Center, Kansas. He also was a former member of the Chamber of Commerce, La Crosse, Kansas; former president of the Lutheran Church, Alexander, Kansas; former board member of the Rush County Farm Bureau; former district president of Luther League; former member of Rush County Industrial Development; and chairman of the building committee of the First Lutheran Church, La Crosse, Kansas.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II.

On April 24, 1952, he married Betty Keener at Hope Lutheran Church, Rush Center, Kansas.

Survivors include: his wife, Betty Misegadis, Rush Center, Kansas; one son, Steve Misegadis, and his wife, Barb, La Crosse, Kansas; two daughters, Lois Misegadis, and her husband, Michael James, Newton, Kansas; and Darlene Misegadis, Rush Center, Kansas; eight grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and one sister, Henrietta Dirks, Lindsborg, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a great granddaughter; three brothers, Carl Misegadis, Raymond Misegadis, and Elmer Misegadis; and five sisters, Esther Dirks, Leona Dirks, Christina Million, Edna Dirks, and Evelyn Rush.

Visitation will be Friday, April 25, 2014, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, Kansas, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. A prayer service will be at 7:00 P.M. Church visitation will be Saturday, April 26, 2014, from 9:30 A.M. to 10:20 A.M. at Hope Lutheran Church, Rush Center, Kansas.

Funeral service was held Saturday, April 26, 2014, at 10:30 A.M. at Hope Lutheran Church, Rush Center, Kansas, with Reverend Patricia Reep officiating. Interment was in Locust Hill Cemetery, Rush Center, Kansas. Military honors rendered by honor guard from Navy Operational Center Wichita.
