Phil was survived by his longtime companion of 12 years, Emily Martinez; daughters: Lupe Espinosa (husband Eric) and Phyllis Salazar (companion Robert Martinez); granddaughter he helped raise, Sarayah Martinez; granddaughters: Erica, Monique, Esperanza, Chantal and Savannah; step-children: Valerie Herrera (husband Steve), Emery Martinez (wife Clarice), Conway Martinez (wife Clarise), Steven Martinez, Nicole (companion Ricco), Paulina (companion Rick), and Angelica Martinez; brothers: Alfredo (wife Merlinda), Fermin (wife Julia), Manuel (wife Amelia), and Pablo Salazar; sisters: Angie Soberanez (husband Ronnie), Teodora Herrera (husband Roberto), Helen Medina (husband Hector), Lorinda (companion Orlando), and Cordy Nevarez (husband Diego); and many nieces, nephews and cousins all who loved him very much.
Public visitation and Rosary were on 24 April 2014 in the Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Cremation followed services.
