I recently got some information from St Joseph Orphanage that my father's stepfather took him to the orphanage May 20, 1926 and paid $10 a month for his stay but came and got my Dad July 30, 1932. I figured my Dad was 16. It seemed his stepfather really cared about him.. my Dad graduated fro Rayen High school in 1936 so apparently my Dad lived with his stepfather. I was trying to find out about the stepfather William E Obendorpher when did he pass away where did he live where did he work.. still have questions.

At the time of her death in 1926 she had 3 young children. A son John Morrison born 1917 to first spouse who died same year. She married soon after and had 2 more children a son Dale W Ordendorfer 1919 and Helen Ordendorfer b about 1921. Death came to her at a young age of 30. It appears her spouse William Oredendorfer did not know what to do with children so put all in orphanage. The boys went to St Josephs orphanage in Lackawanna NY and the girl went to St Joseph's in Cleveland. They stayed there until 18 years old. Child JOhn M Morrison did graduate from Rayen HS in 1935 or 6? so he did leave orphanage prior to that date. Still looking for more information as to why relatives did not take in children.

Her mother, Luella Jacobs Furney was alive after 1940 living on Mackey Street in Hubbard Ohio with her sister Cora Burkett? She was listed as a widow.

Helen Furney had siblings:
Mabel Louella Furney married John Elisha Snyder
Pearl unknown
Grace never married? in this cemetery
Azella Love Furney (male) married Mabel Creed
Roma Dell married Leroy Shotten

(This is under study as of 4/28/2014

Helen birthed her first child JOhn Morrison 1917 in New Mexico. She was back by 1920 in Mahoning Co Ohio, a widow since 1917 and living on Coitsville Rd with new spouse
William Obendorfer. In 1925 she is listed by herself in the city directory of Albuquerque, New Mexico residing at 609 S 1st in that town - no occupation listed. By 1926 she is back in Ohio and died that year. Trying to make her connection to New Mexico.

She may connect to a Tim George Huffman Shearer in NM from letters written. This is still under study 5/20/2014.

Update 12/19/2015 Daughter Helen Delores Obendorfer died in Mobile Alabama as Helen D Casey December 08, 2000, She had several Casey children. This is still under study as family would like to solve this mystery. Also shows up in Florida.
