Funeral services for Edith Ackerland, 94, of Moline, IL, will be 11:00AM Wednesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Moline Memorial Park Cemetery, Moline. Visitation will be 9:00-11:00AM Wednesday, prior to services at the funeral home. Mrs. Ackerland died Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Forest Hill Health and Rehab, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall, Moline, or the Alzheimer's Association. Edith Mastre was born July 26, 1919 in Walsh County, ND, the daughter of James and Olga Olson Mastre. She married George Ackerland November 5, 1936 in Grafton, ND. He died December 29, 2005. Edith was one of Jehovah's Witnesses, who shared in ministry work. She was a loving wife and mother of 10 children. She had been the centerpiece of their family, instilling her values to her children. She was well known for her fresh baked bread and her love of poetry. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Myrna State of Sarasota, FL, Jana and Jorge Diaz of Davenport, IA, Julie and Maynard Madore of Creston, IA; sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Lynn Ackerland of East Moline, IL, Donald and Cheryl Ackerland of East Moline, IL; 38 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Harlan, Gary, Randy, John, and David Ackerland; sisters, Hannah King and Sophia Petersen; brothers, Leonard Mastre, Harold and Ardell Petersen.
