Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Sandberg Rhodes, 83, who died last night at 10:45 o'clock at her home, 536 22nd St., Rock Island, after an extended illness, will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Wheelan Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
The Rev. Herman E. Soderberg, pastor of the First Lutheran Church, will officiate.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday after 9 a.m.
Mrs. Rhodes was born Aug. 2, 1871, in Gamalstorp, Bleking, Sweden. She was a daughter of the late Johan and Panella Olson. She came to the United States when she was 16 and lived in Knox County for many years. She was married to John F. Sandberg in 1894 in Altona, Ill. Mr. Sandberg died many years ago.
For 35 years, Mrs. Rhodes lived in Rock Island, where she married Hiram Rhodes in 1930. He preceded her in death, also.
She was of Lutheran faith.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Howard G. Swanson, Dixon, Ill., Mrs. Florence Peterson, St. Charles, Ill., and Mrs. Robert F. Lyons, Rock Island; two sons, Oscar and Ernest Sandberg, Rock Island; a sister, Mrs. Selma Jepson, Sweden; two brothers, August Olson, Kewanee, and John Olson, San Diego, Calif.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She has also preceded in death by a sister and brother.
