She was born May 27, 1896, in Springfield, the daughter of Jack and Margaret Hamilton Connolly.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Archie John DeWitt and Richard Meek.
She was a resident of Springfield most of her life, and was former owner and operator of DeWitt Cafe in the 800 block of East Cook Street. She was a member of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Loraine Porteus and Ellen Benedict; three brothers, Thomas, Melvin, and William Connolly; and three sisters, Frances, Margaret, and Mary Connolly.
She is survived by one daughter, Evelyn Balmer of Springfield; one son, John D. of Worden; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, John "Jack" Connolly of Springfield, and James Connolly of San Francisco, Calif.; four sisters, Mrs. Helen McAvoy of St. Louis, Mo., Mrs. Ann Scott of Granite City, Mrs. Irene Collier and Mrs. Loretta Constantino, both of Springfield; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Calvary Cemetery Chapel, with the Rev. Doug Lichenberger officiating.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
