Evelyn M. Balmer, 92, of Springfield, died at 1:25 a.m., Tuesday, October 19, 2011 at Heritage Manor. She was born December 15, 1918 in Springfield, IL to Arch and Marie Connolly DeWitt. She married John L. Balmer on April 5, 1943 and he preceded her in death on March 4, 2000.

Her parents; two sisters, Lorraine V. Porteus and Ellen J. Benedict also preceded her.

She was the loving mother of two sons both of Springfield. She is also survived by two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was a member of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and Telephone Pioneers of America.

Evelyn was a lifelong resident of Springfield and worked for thirty one years for Illinois Bell Telephone Company.

Graveside Service: 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Calvary Cemetery Chapel with Reverend Stephen Thompson officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
