Herman Lorenzo "Uncle Hermie" Fike, 69, of Old Fields, WV, died Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the E.A. Hawse Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Baker, WV.

Born on February 12, 1945 at Keyser, WV, he was one of 15 children born to the late Herman N. Fike and Eliza (Pitzer) Fike Shillingburg. He also was preceded in death by five sisters, Velma Smith, Lorena Price, Gertrude Ahern, Grace Austin and Juanita Everett and five brothers, Thurman, Gordon, Emory, David and Wilbert Fike.

Surviving are two brothers, Bill Fike of Moorefield, WV and Ralph Fike of Nitro, WV; two sisters, Mary Ellen Hinckley of Jackson, Michigan and Thelma Price of Greenville, OH; a special niece, Diana Crites and husband Ricky and their daughter, Madilyn, all of Old Fields and his special caregivers for many years, Glenn and Jeanette Ours of Petersburg, WV. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and grandnieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Burlington Chapel, on Monday, May 5, 2014 from 6-9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Burlington Chapel, on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Nicholas Yurcaba and Pastor Christopher Whetzel officiating.

Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.

The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to the Believers Victory Center Building Fund, 132 N. Main Street, Moorefield, WV 26836.
