This Simon de Montfort IS the fourth of the name. The numbering of the Simon others have contributed to this website have missed Simon II de Montfort, who was the eldest son of Simon I, and older brother of Amaury IV.

Simon I (~1026 - 25 Sep 1087) m. 2nd Agnés d'Évreux.

1st son of Simon I = Simon II (~1067 - 25 Sep aft 1104).

2nd & surviving son of Simon I = Amaury IV (~1070 - 18 Apr 1137) who married Agnés de Garlande.

son of Amaury IV = Simon III (~1119 - 13 Mar 1181) who married Maud ____.

son of Simon III = Simon IV (~1151 - bef 18 Jul 1188) who married Amice de Beaumont.

"This Simon was hitherto unknown, his wife and children having previously been attributed to his father, SIMON, COUNT OF EVREUX.

He succeeded his father to the lordships of Montfort and Rochefort and all of his father's French lands. Simon and Amice had 2 sons, Simon, Earl of Leicester and Guy, and a dau., Pernel."
