Mrs. G. Nolan Dies -71st Year
Relatives, friends and neighbours paid final tribute to the memory of Mrs. Grace Nolan at her largely attended funeral which took place on Thursday, October 3, 1968, from the Patterson and Son Funeral Home, Lake Ave. west, where Rev. K. J. Murray conducted the service at 2 p.m. Interment was in Boyd's United Cemetery. Grace, who had resided at 266 Bridge St., passed away suddenly, following a heart seizure at the Carleton Place and District Memorial Hospital on Monday, September 30. She was in her 71st year. Born in Scotch Corners on November 12, 1897, the former Grace Cooke, she was a daughter of the late George Cooke and his wife, the late Elizabeth Hughes. She was educated at the Scotch Corners school and was an active member of Zion-Memorial United Church Grace had been employed as a nurse's aide at the Carleton Place and District Memorial Hospital, since it was first opened in 1955. She was a member of the Mississippi Rebekah Lodge, the Cancer Society, the I.O.D.E. and St. John's Ambulance. She is survived by one brother, Lorne Cooke, four sisters, Gertrude: Mrs. Clarence Emerson (Mary); Mrs. James Miller (Edith); Mrs. George Malloch (Dorothy) and a number of nieces and nephews . The pallbearers, nephews of the deceased were James (Bud) Miller, Gerald Reid, Lyman MacMillan, Ronald Cooke, Kenneth Cooke and Carl Cooke. On Tuesday evening at 7.30 p.m. the Mississippi Rebekah Lodge held a memorial service at the funeral home.
