Patrick Bannon immigrated in 1849 with his mother & step-father (James Campbell) and settled initially in Cincinnati OH. He moved to Louisville KY in 1852 where he remained, returning to Ireland only once (ca1874).

A plasterer by trade, Patrick did part of the ornamental plaster work on the Cathedral of the Assumption in downtown Louisville. He worked with his step-father in the plastering business as Bannon Campbell & Company until 1860 when he started a terra cotta and sewer pipe business. At the time of his death, he was the head of the P Bannon Sewer Pipe Company & the Kentucky Vitrified Brick Company.

Patrick was twice President of the Louisville Board of Council and once refused an effort to induce him to run for Mayor. Among the many politicians who acted as honorary pallbearers at his funeral was Mayor, Paul C Barth.
