Eldor attended Town of Rhine Grade School and attended Plymouth High School. He served in the US Marine Corp from 1944-1948 serving in World War II. He was employed at Bordens Foods in Plymouth for 42 years retiring in 1990. On November 6, 1954 he married Therese A. Pearce at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth. The couple lived in Little Elkhart Lake before moving to Plymouth in 1958. Therese preceded him in death on April 6, 2006. Eldor was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth and served as an usher and communion distributor in the church for many years. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus # 1789 in Plymouth. Eldor served as a Scout Master for Troop # 51 in Plymouth. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Survivors include: Six children, Seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two sisters: Marilyn Rooker of Waldo Helena (Philip) Maurer of Kiel one step sister: Ilene (Sy) Burkhardt of Valders, two step brothers: Clifford (Nancy) Meyer of Plymouth and Gene Meyer, Two sister-in-laws: Leona Sander of Plymouth Betty Pearce of Plymouth. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives.
Eldor was preceded in death by his step mother, Ruth Meyer, one son-in-law: Richard Sippel, one brother: Gene Sander, two brothers-in-law Raymond Rooker and Lawrence Pearce, three nephews: Gary Sander, Chris and Michael Maurer.
Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday (May 4) at 6:00P.M. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth. Very Rev. Dennis Van Beek, Pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Church on Wednesday from 4:00P.M. until the time of services. The Plymouth VFW World Cheese Center #5612 will conduct military rites at the church following the services. Suchon Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Plymouth is serving his family.
