She was born August 28, 1921 to Joe and Leona Ray of Santa Clara, Utah.
She graduated from Dixie Junior College, received a normal degree from BYU and B.S. from the University of Utah.
She spent nine years teaching elementary school, six years teaching handicapped children and five years as principal of Hartvigsen School.
She did all the things many of us dream about.
Barbara was married fifty one years to Mason Barton and together they had three children; David Barton (Bebe) Santa Cruz, CA, Pam Kimball (Wayne) Springville, UT, and Don Barton (Pat) West Valley City, UT.
When Mason passed away she served an LDS mission in Tampa, FL. She spent a year teaching English in China and has traveled to twelve other countries.
She married Morris Brooks in 1999. When he passed away she married Jack Lucas 2006.
Barbara hiked Mt. Whitney twice, once when she was 58, once when she was 70, and hiked Angel's Landing on her 80th birthday.
She served in many LDS church callings and was an example of great faith to all of us.
