Mrs. Jones was born August 22, 1939 in Fort Worth to Samuel Harold Cauthen and Edna Earl Hall Cauthen. She was reared and educated in Temple and Italy. She graduated from Italy High School in 1957. She attended Baylor University where she was a member of the Baylor University Chapel Choir and the Baylor A Capella Choir. She married Theiss L. Jones on November 22, 1958 in Italy. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Temple where she was involved in children's activities in Sunday School, Kindergarten and was Children's Choir Coordinator. She began the Banner Ministry in 1983 which designed banners and supervised the construction of the banners. She then started a new banner ministry group after the other banners were destroyed by the church fire. She was foremost a mother and minister's wife with her contagious gift of hospitality. She was an avid quilter. She was a bible study teacher and shared her love for friends and family and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 50 years. Survivors include one son, Samuel T. Jones and wife, Amy of Arlington, one daughter, Sarah Jones Richardson and husband, Bill of Santa Clara, California and five grandchildren, Zachary Theiss Jones, Stephanie Jones, Caleb Theiss Richardson, Joshua Richardson and Daniel Richardson. Also surviving is her sister, Carolyn Cauthen Burton.
