This obituary and tribute to Virgil Griffin, author unknown, was mailed on June 14, 1933, to Virgil's son Ansel, who was living in Akron, Ohio. It was sent by Ansel's father-in-law, David Correll.

Virgil Griffin, son of James H. and Sarah E. Griffin, was born September 7, 1869. He died May 21, 1933, at the age of 63 years, 8 months, and 14 days. He was married to Samantha F. York, daughter of Joseph F. and Adaline York, on Dec. 22, 1893. To this union was born ten children, five boys and five girls, all of whom are still living.

He confessed his faith in our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, in his early youth at the Old Stylesville Christian Church and has lived a devoted Christian life until his death.

He was a lover of truth and righteousness, an apostle of peace and good will to his family and his many friends and Christian fellow-workers. His life has been an outstanding example of humbleness, love and charity. His efforts to promote goodness in his church and community have been untiring and unlimited.

Surely, the works of this servant of righteousness will live on in the hearts of his family and in this community, and will be a guiding light and inspiration to those who might be tempted to turn from the way of truth and life eternal.

Yes, we will miss him so much. His departure has left a wound upon our hearts so deep that not even time can heal. But, we must labor on in the work of our Master for which he so patiently labored and suffered until that day when we shall be reunited in that glorious land of the living where there is never to be no more sad partings and with our Saviour we shall sing God's praises with gladness and joy with all the redeemed forever more.
