Born in Summerton, S.C., on Dec. 26, 1905, Mrs. Abbott was a retired school teacher, having taught at the Walhalla and Westminster schools. She was a
graduate from Winthrop College and was a member of the Westminster Baptist Church, where for many years served as church organist. Mrs. Abbott served on the Oconee County Library Board and the As You Like It Club and the Westminster
Garden Club. She was co-founder with her husband, Z.T. Abbott, the Westminster Depository in 1935, the Abbott Insurance Agency in 1935, the Bank of Westminster in 1945, and following Mr. Z.T. Abbott's death she was the chairman of the board
of directors at the Bank of Westminster.
Survivors include sons, Marshall Treadwell Abbott and wife, Dot of Westminster, Zettner Thomas Abbott Jr. and wife Betty of Westminster; seven grandchildren, Charlotte A. Sheriff and husband Mike, Frances A. Human and husband Bill,
Marshall T. Abbott Jr. and wife Cindy, William R. Abbott, Elizabeth A. French
and husband Scott, Rebecca A. Kelley and husband Raymond and Zettner T. Abbott
III and Fianc Diane; six great-grandchildren, Marlee Ann Sheriff, Alex Abbott,
Alexandra M. French, Jonathan A. Kelley, Kathleen A. Kelley, and McKenzie A.
French.
Mrs. Abbott was preceded in death by her husband, Zettner Thomas Abbott Sr. and
parents, Claude Treadwell and Stella B. Dingle.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. today, Jan. 6, 2003, from the Chapel
of Sandifer Funeral Home with Dr. Randy Keasler, The Rev. Wilton Maxwell
officiating. Entombment will follow in the Oconee Memorial Park Tower Mausoleum.
The body is at the Sandifer Funeral Home, Westminster, where the family will
receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. prior to the service today, Jan. 6, 2003.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Tribble Center, 116 South
Cove Road, Seneca, SC 29672 or to the American Cancer Society , 154 Milestone
Way, Greenville, SC 29615.
The family is at their respective homes.
